Hi Everyone, I'm currently running a job classified ad site, and having some problems with my brand site links. So in short, when I type my brand some sitelinks appear which is OK, but there is one that has the anchor text as "1", yep just a number one, as far as I know, Google takes the anchor text from internal linking, and since this the landing page for my search site.com/search-jobs I don't want to demote it. Now I started checking why the number "1" is actually showing and I figured it out it might be due to pagination, since the search results (?=page2, ?=page3, etc) were all linking from the bottom numbers to site.com/search-jobs with the almighty number 1, I took a decision on changing that link to site.com/search-jobs?page=1 and adding a canonical tag to the landing page to avoid duplicated content. The solution worked for a few days for private sessions only (anchor text was Search for jobs in Peru), but after that number 1 came back and I can't figure it out how to change it, tried to update the cache on search console on most pages that still had the previous version but to no avail. My boss and I are trying to fix this issue but no luck yet, should I update all of my pages' cache?, any help would be much appreciated.

I have multiple URLs that all lead to the same website. Years ago they were purchased and were sitting dormant. Currently they are 301 redirects and each of the URLs feed to different areas of my website. Should I be worried about losing authority? And if so, is there a better way to do this?

Hi, We launched a client's website around 7th January 2013 (http://rollerbannerscheap.co.uk), we originally constructed the website on a development domain (http://dev.rollerbannerscheap.co.uk) which was active for around 6-8 months (the dev site was unblocked from search engines for the first 3-4 months, but then blocked again) before we migrated dev --> live. In late Jan 2013 changed the robots.txt file to allow search engines to index the website. A week later I accidentally logged into the DEV website and also changed the robots.txt file to allow the search engines to index it. This obviously caused a duplicate content issue as both sites were identical. I realised what I had done a couple of days later and blocked the dev site from the search engines with the robots.txt file. Most of the pages from the dev site had been de-indexed from Google apart from 3, the home page (dev.rollerbannerscheap.co.uk, and two blog pages). The live site has 184 pages indexed in Google. So I thought the last 3 dev pages would disappear after a few weeks. I checked back late February and the 3 dev site pages were still indexed in Google. I decided to 301 redirect the dev site to the live site to tell Google to rank the live site and to ignore the dev site content. I also checked the robots.txt file on the dev site and this was blocking search engines too. But still the dev site is being found in Google wherever the live site should be found. When I do find the dev site in Google it displays this; Roller Banners Cheap » admin   dev.rollerbannerscheap.co.uk/ A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more.   This is really affecting our clients SEO plan and we can't seem to remove the dev site or rank the live site in Google. In GWT I have tried to remove the sub domain. When I visit remove URLs, I enter dev.rollerbannerscheap.co.uk but then it displays the URL as http://www.rollerbannerscheap.co.uk/dev.rollerbannerscheap.co.uk. I want to remove a sub domain not a page. Can anyone help please?

I was just wondering if there are any advantages to using the www instead of just the domain name for seo. Can these be elaborated on?

What are the precautions to be taken in redesigning the website ? do it effect on link building? I am planing to re design my website, most of the Keywords are already optimized by Google, and i have given many back links to it . After redesigning my website will it get effected? Most of my work now involves converting older websites to CMS-based sites (in Wordpress) and I'm wondering about best practices here. If I create a "dev" or "sandbox" directory for my development work how do I keep the pages from being indexed while I am working on the new site? Can I "noindex" a directory? What do I do with the old html files when the new site goes live? I'm assuming I will do a 301 redirect from domain.com/index.html to the new domain.com/, and also on all of the inner pages that have equivalent pages in the new site. But there will be a lot of old files left that have no equal in the new site. Do I just delete these, or noindex nofollw them?
